Lessons from the Morning Glory
I took this photo today because it shows the tenacity of this beautiful flower. Considered a weed by gardeners, it is also called “bindweed.” It is nearly impossible to kill. In spite of the obstacles in its path, it perseveres. In adversity, it has grown stronger and has finally made it to the sunlight, where it can bloom.
Morning Glory teaches me strength in adversity. She speaks to me about how to be successful and how to grow into my beauty.
Blessings of the Quiet
It will be a quiet holiday for many. It will be a good time to get to know ourselves again. To seek to understand what is important to our psyche (soul). In the Celtic calendar, this is the Dark Time of the Year which began at Samhain (November), a time intended as an incubation period, a time of gestation. A time filled with dreams and creativity, and of stories; the inner creation of what we desire to manifest in the spring. Embrace the quiet this holiday season, and go deep into the mysteries. They wait in the dark silence for the spark of your soul to ignite the magic. Make good use of this gift of time. Many Blessings.
New! Walk-and-Talk Counseling
I’m pleased to offer a new modality for counseling that gets you out in the fresh air and sunshine, communing with nature even if you’re not working with the horses.
Walk-and-talk is a form of counseling or consultation while walking outdoors in public (or sometimes private) places. I offer walk-and-talk sessions as an optional treatment modality. Walking sessions typically take place along the Erie Canal Towpath, or more privately at Rivendell Farm.
Some clients enjoy the experience of movement while talking or feel more comfortable talking side-by-side, rather than sitting face-to-face in an office or on a computer screen. If you’re interested, we’ll decide beforehand if it’s clinically appropriate for your situation. Walk-and-talk sessions can be used intermittently or regularly, and may be discontinued at any time.
We will both follow all health and safety guidance issued by the CDC and local authorities regarding wearing masks and maintaining a safe distance.
Schedule a Discovery Call to discuss whether or not this kind of counseling is for you. (If we decide to work together, the cost of the Discovery Call will be deducted from your first session fee.)
PTSD in Men vs Women
I wanted to share this article from Psychology Today by Dr. Melanie Greenberg with all my readers. The rate of women with the condition is nearly double!
