Introduction to Shamanism & Shamanic Practices

In a 2-hour overview, you will learn about shamanism as a spiritual practice: where the word “shaman” originated, how long people have been practicing shamanism, which ancient cultures practiced shamanism, and which modern cultures still do! You will learn about “Core Shamanism” and how it differs from culture-specific indigenous shamanism. Explore such concepts as Power Animals and Teachers, the Three Worlds, the Shamanic Journey, and divination and healing from a shamanic perspective. Find out why shamanism is often referred to as a “path of direct revelation” and discover why it is considered a spiritual path that can be practiced in harmony with most belief systems. I will also lead you through a brief guided journey.

     This class is a prerequisite for my 5-Week Basic Shamanic Journeying Course, which is in turn a prerequisite for Medicine for the Earth training. Both the Basic Journeying and Medicine for the Earth courses are required prior to application for my 1-Year Shamanic Apprenticeship.
