The first stage of meditation is to reduce all those mental distractions and make our mind clear and calm. This may sound easier said than done, but it can be accomplished by practicing a few simple breathing techniques. Meditation in a group can be very supportive and satisfying. No special tools are needed, just a few moments of time and the intention to find a better way to live your life.
The RoseHeart Meditation Group is led by 3 people experienced with meditation and the wonderful benefits it brings to our lives – Sonja Burns, Cindy McGinley, and Virginia Waldron. We meet once a month, on the third Wed. of the month. Each session will last one season – 3 months. There will be seasonally appropriate meditations for each session. The Summer Session went well. The Autumn Sessions will meet on Sept. 18th, Oct. 16th, and Nov. 20th. Cost for all 3 months in each session, paid in advance – $30. Walk-ins are $15 per class.
Working with a group like this will be a chance to practice establishing a meditation routine with a group of like minded people. If you have done meditation before and want to find a support group, or if you are just beginning to explore this ancient method of finding a sense of peace deep within, this group will be an opportunity to learn to work with the energy of a group and create a good habit of regular meditation. There will also be some take-home meditations that you can work with on your own between our group meetings.
